The Gophers of Goucher earned a big win in their last match of the first round-robin, topping Moravian in five sets which moved them to 2-1 and gave them the tie-breaker over the Greyhounds. The team will face Susquehanna, host Catholic and Scranton this weekend, and seems to be in good position to earn the right to host one of the quarterfinal matches. Goucher has carried the momentum out of that win as the team has gone 2-0 since the round-robin. The team boasts the third-best defense in the Landmark in terms of opponents hitting percentage, and much of that comes from the fact that the Gophers lead the Landmark in digs per set.
Mrs Salt added that highlights of the year had been the ski trip to France, the recent football and netball tour to Barcelona and finishing runner-up in the School of the Year award at the Everybody Sports Awards. She also revealed exciting plans for the year ahead including the creation of a sport academy combined with improved facilities, including a 3G pitch and a 150 seat stand.
