If a hectic day makes a sit-down meal impossible, stash an energy bar or a piece of fruit in your car or tote, keep snacks in your office desk drawer, and make a point of getting up to grab a nosh — anything that will keep you from going hungry! Going long periods of time without food does double-duty harm on our healthy eating efforts by both slowing down your metabolism, and priming you for another binge later in the day. But for about 2,000 years, herbalists all over Asia have been cultivating Ganoderma lucidum for its medicinal properties; it has long been thought of as a cure-all, reducing the effects of everything from asthma to heart palpitations—including anti-diabetic effects. Now a team of Taiwanese researchers has found that the mushroom's extract can help obese mice lose weight, according to a study published today in Nature Medicine. Their hope is that the extract could also be used to help counter the human obesity epidemic, which endangers millions of lives worldwide.

Exercise alternative - if you are obese, you can use diet pills as the temporary alternative for exercise. How does this work? Obesity makes physical activity difficult or potentially harmful, and diet pills help you reduce caloric intake to lose a certain amount of weight before you're able to exercise. This is something you should consult with your doctor. Remember, diet pills are NOT a replacement for exercise and using them as an alternative for physical activity is only a temporary solution.
